CESP Confirms Comscore Transparency, by Auditing Comscore Technology and Methodology
Paris, October 14th, 2014 – Comscore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR), a global leader in digital measurement and analytics, and the CESP (Centre d’Etude des Supports de Publicité) today announced the successful completion of the audit of MMX™, Comscore’s online audience measurement service, providing greater transparency to the digital media industry in France.
Denis Bied-Charreton, Managing Director of the CESP says: “The auditing process of Comscore MMX has been successfully completed. We covered all aspects of MMX, the enumeration survey, the panel recruitment, statistical process and Comscore Unified Digital Measurement methodology. The CESP considers as satisfactory the principle of the measurement system, particularly the choice made by Comscore of a passive data collection of panelists activity, the processing chain and the modelling required to produce audience results combining a passive measure via a panel and the specificities of internet. Publisher tagging of their websites is an important aspect of the process and we encourage their participation. Some recommendations of the CESP have already been taken into account, particularly to improve the panel recruitment.”
“We’ve been working with the CESP and its Scientific Committee for almost two years,” said Josh Chasin, Comscore’s Chief Research Officer. “This rigorous audit process that is now completed is a clear illustration of Comscore’s commitment to provide the transparency into methods, methodologies, practices and techniques required by the French market. We have developed a Research Plan to address recommendations made by CESP in areas such as panel, modelling development and unified methodology and will continue to work together closely in 2015. This year, Comscore have already implemented improvements in the universe enumeration process including total population data from INSEE. In parallel, we will also help inform the market on Comscore processes and methodologies and shall publish methodology documentation to help in these endeavours.”
Jacques Tchenio, Comscore VP Sales in France added: “Comscore is trusted by more than 2,000 clients worldwide, who value our company’s independence and methodology transparency. We are welcoming the CESP audit recommendations as they will help us bring to the French market the trusted, independent and transparent audience measurement solution that we already provide in other markets, such as US, UK and Spain and which fuels other industry-leading Comscore solutions such as validated Campaign Essentials™.”
